How to calculate percentage increase

Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value and multiply by 100: ((new − old) ÷ old) × 100. A change from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase.

How to calculate percentage decrease

Use the same change formula. A fall from 100 to 80 is a 20% decrease because the change is −20% relative to the original 100.
